Corrodi/Kucharczyk - dominance extended

Davide Corrodi/Maja Kucharczyk further extended their dominance at the Swiss Championships in Tenero. The Zug dance couple (TSCZ) regained the standard title from Volodymyr Kasilov/Yulia Dreier in a fascinating duel, followed by their 16th Swiss championship title in the main category the next day in the ten dance.

Standard is the only discipline in which Davide&Maja have faced stiff resistance at national title competitions in recent years; Vova&Yulia from DUZ travelled to Ticino as defending champions, and the spectators were treated to another instalment of this high-level duel. Vova&Yulia took the lead in the English Waltz, after which Davide&Maja dominated the Tango and also won the Viennese Waltz. Vova&Yulia successfully countered in the Slowfox, so that the Quickstep had to decide again. In the fast-paced final dance, 5 of the 7 judges saw the Zug challengers in first place - as in previous years, the decision was extremely close.

Third place went to a new pairing competing for Tanzsport Bern; Sofiia Khant from Ukraine and her Italian partner Andrea Boldrini showed their great potential at their premiere. The other places of honour went to Vladislav Davydiuk/Yelyzaveta Driemina (DUZ), Mikhail Pikulin/Olha Hryshchenko (TTZ) and Leandro Samuel Munari/Lisa Federica Ersch (DUZ).

Briner/Egli - 16th gold in a row
Jürg Briner and Katharina Egli (DUZ), the new CIST World Champions in Tenero, continued their extraordinary run of success in the Seniors III and won their 16th consecutive SM gold medal. In the senior I category, the spectators were able to applaud the victory of Andrea Bencivenga/Anna Drukarova (TSCZ). Beat Künzi/Barbara Kaufmann in the senior II category and Beat Schmid/Monika Schmid in the senior IV category ensured double gold for Tanzsport Bern.

Richoz/Etter - 7 years later
Unfortunately, only a few couples took part in Sunday's Swiss ten-dance championship. Corrodi/Kucharczyk, who finished fourth at the European Championships, were able to take the title unchallenged ahead of Munari/Ersch (DUZ). Marlon Stäbler/Ladina Bundi (TTZ) took the title in the youth final, which was danced together with the main category.

In the senior category, the title went to Pierre-Yves Richoz/Audrey Etter, who won gold for the Geneva KapDanse Club for the last time in 2018.
