Schmitt/Salkhova Latin World Champions for the first time

The French pairing of Charles-Guillaume Schmitt/Elena Salikhova have secured the Latin World Championship title for the first time in Brno, Czech Republic. They had previously won three silver medals behind the Germans Balan/Moshenka, who have since switched to the professional ranks. The places of honour this time went to Guillem Pascual/Diandra-Aniela Illes (Spain) and Yan Bangbang/Du Yujun (China).

The STSV was represented by two couples who put in very impressive performances. The national champions Davide Corrodi/Maja Kucharczyk from Tanzsportclub Zug reached the third round and finished 36th in the Latin Adults category at their World Championship debut. The Swiss runners-up Flavio Martins/Angelina Lesniak from TTZ Zürich achieved a very good 60th place in their first appearance at an international championship, advancing to the second round out of 81 couples.
