The two organising clubs, Geneva Kapdanse Club and Ballroom Dancing Club Genève, welcome the dancing couples and the public at the Salle des Fêtes Avanchets Salève, located one kilometre south of Geneva airport.
There are four interesting couples to watch in the main category. Davide Corrodi/Maja Kucharczyk, who prefer the start in Geneva to taking part in the World Championships Latin, are the hunted. The defending champions from the Tanzsportclub Zug are aiming for their fifth gold medal in the ten-dance event. The first appearance of the standard champions Volodymir Kasilov/Yulia Dreier in a ten-dance competition is awaited with great excitement. The DUZ pairing has obviously rehearsed their Latin choreography intensively in the last few weeks and is therefore relatively unencumbered when they take to the floor. The Ticino pairing David Büchel/Flavia Landolfi is already a well-known ten-dance couple; however, the two championship titles of this likeable couple were won a few years ago. The Ukrainians Ivan Hadarah/Anastasiia Fedchenko complete this illustrious starting field as unknown challengers.
In the seniors, the Geneva pair Pierre-Yves Richoz/Audrey Etter (pictured), who are very popular throughout Switzerland, will be the focus of the public's interest. Having just become parents for the first time, they are now very busy organising these tournaments and also trying to repeat their 2018 title. Their strongest opponents in this field are probably the four-time champions and defending champions Felix Locher/Silvia Nater from TTZ.
The Geneva Dance Cup, which comprises a total of nine tournaments, starts at 1 pm on Saturday. The SM finals of the pupils and juniors/youth are also embedded in the afternoon event between 16.00-17.30 hrs. The evening event, which will have its highlights with the SM finals of the seniors and main category, will start with an opening ceremony at 20.00 hrs. In the evening, the passionate amateur dancers will also get their money's worth, who are invited to dance with the public during the breaks.
