The Trafo Hall in Baden will be the venue for the 2022 Swiss Latin Championships on Sunday, 25 September. As part of the traditional Trafo Cup, which already starts at 10 am with standard competitions in all age groups, the decisions of the national Latin title competitions will be made from 3.45 pm. Who will be proclaimed the new Swiss champion at 8 pm and take over the title from the retired Pitt&Tiara Wibawa?
Some Swiss Championships in the last 10 years have already brought surprises, but this year one pairing has positioned itself as favourites. Davide Corrodi/Maja Kucharczyk from TSC Zug come to Baden with the momentum of a semi-final appearance at the World Ten Dance Championships and will be going all out to secure the Swiss Latin title for the first time in their careers. Last year's winners, the siblings Pitt and Tiara Wibawa, recently announced their retirement, and last year's bronze medallists Philipp Hofstetter/April Hoffmeister are also not competing. These vacancies give room for new pairings on the podium. Tristan Geiger/Catherine Pisarenko from the TTZ, who had to withdraw for health reasons in the previous years, could take on the role of the biggest challenger and possible spoilsport. Dominik Zimmermann/Mae Hoffmeister (TTZ) and David Büchel/Flavia Landolfi (TDSC) also have podium chances in the balanced field of twelve.
Grown starting fields in the young talent
A pleasing trend can be observed among the young dancers. As many as 17 school couples (up to 11 years) have registered, many of them still in the beginners' class D, where only three dances have to be shown. There are eight junior couples (up to 14 years), with competitors from the Ukraine also competing for titles and medals.
The STSV offers an uncommented live stream on this website, which covers all decisions and award ceremonies of the Swiss Latin Championships between 11.35-20.15 hrs. So if you can't come to Baden, you can still watch live.
Transformer Cup with Standard
This time, the Trafo Cup is limited to the standard disciplines, where all age groups can be seen with starters from Switzerland, Germany and Austria. The youngest pupils and most experienced seniors are already in action from 10 am. The highlight is the final of the main category at 12.30 pm, where the current national champions Vova Kasilov/Yulia Dreier are also entered.
The Happy Dancers Baden are looking forward to welcoming the Swiss dance elite, their fans and as many spectators as possible to their tried and tested Trafo location on Brown Boveri Platz (near the railway station). The Trafo Cup, which was planned for spring but cancelled at short notice, can now even take place on a larger scale.
