STSV President Walter Vogt visited the World Winter Games in Turin and Sestriere as a guest of Special Olympics Switzerland. He supported the Swiss pair Victoria Kälin/Lukas Hämmerli and gained valuable insights into inclusive dance sport. The international exchange shows: Inclusion not only strengthens dance sport, but also our community.
"I and the entire delegation from Special Olympics Switzerland were thrilled by what we saw," summarises Vogt. "The joy, energy and dedication of the dancers touched us deeply and showed us how powerful dance can be as an inclusive movement."
Inclusion is already an integral part of dance sport in other countries. "We want to anchor inclusion in dance sport in the long term - as a natural part of our sports culture," announces Vogt. The STSV wants to analyse the needs by the end of 2025 in order to take well-founded steps for the future. Together, it is feasible to have a strong Swiss dance team at the next Winter Games in Arosa in 2029.
"Inclusive dance sport not only changes the perspective on movement, but also strengthens togetherness in our society," Vogt is convinced.
