The first two tournaments of the new STSV competition season will take place on the same weekend, namely 22 and 23 March 2025; the "Züri Trophy" in Seuzach on Saturday and the "TRAFO Cup" in Baden on Sunday. How did this "unfortunate" constellation come about?
The organisers of the TRAFO Cup, the Happy Dancers Baden, duly registered their traditional tournament with the STSV sports organisation several months ago and received written approval to hold it on 23 March 2025.
In autumn 2024, the dance company Galactic Stars (TGS) informed the STSV sports organisation via voicemail that it would like to hold the "Züri Trophy" again in spring 2025 in collaboration with Rock'n'Roll DAMO Winterthur in the Rietacker sports hall in Seuzach. However, the required written tournament registration was not submitted by TGS; in any case, it cannot be found in any STSV mail account until 7 January 2025. Nevertheless, TGS began planning the tournament without formal authorisation, including reserving the hall and looking for sponsors.
On 7 January 2025, a discussion between the STSV sports organisation and TGS revealed that there was no official permit for the "Züri Trophy". According to the applicable regulations, further preparations for this tournament should have been stopped. However, in order to recognise the proven efforts of TGS, the STSV sports organisation decided, as an exception, to approve the "Züri Trophy" anyway.
The STSV regrets the resulting clash of dates. At the same time, the STSV also sees an opportunity in this constellation: dance couples from Switzerland and abroad can compete twice in one weekend. The distance between the two venues in Baden and Seuzach is around 55 kilometres. We hope that this special situation will be used as a unique opportunity for an exciting "dance festival" and wish both organisers every success!
