The first highlight of the season for the Swiss dance sport scene this coming weekend in the Trafo-Halle Baden will feature a pleasingly large starting field. On Saturday, for example, 17 couples have registered for the Swiss Standard Championship in both the main category and the Senior III category. On Sunday, the ten-dance champions will also be determined, where standard and Latin skills will be required in equal measure.
The Happy Dancers Baden as organisers and the audience can once again look forward to large starting fields and also hope for a grand finale. In the standard main category, the duel between Corrodi/Kucharczyk and Kasilov/Dreier has created a Hitchcock atmosphere in each of the last three years. But by the time this final is danced on Saturday evening at 10 p.m., the Baden dance floor will have been in use for over 12 hours. The competitions start at 9.30 a.m. with the Trafo Cup, where students and juniors compete in Latin. In between, numerous standard preliminary rounds are scheduled in eight age and strength classes. The first medal decisions as part of the SM Standard are scheduled from 3.00 pm. All seats have been sold for the evening event from 8 pm, where the champions of the main category and Seniors I and III will be determined. Standing room only is still available at the box office.
Tenth dance for the first time with Kasilov/Dreier
The most striking entry for the ten-dance championships on Sunday is that of the DUZ pairing Kasilov/Dreier. The established standard pair are now venturing onto the floor for the first time with their Latin skills and are challenging the favoured defending champions and last year's European Championship runners-up Corrodi/Kucharczyk. A total of 10 couples will be on the floor, guaranteeing a spectacle on Sunday. From 4.40 pm, 6 senior and 12 junior couples will also be dancing for championship titles and medals. Early risers can enjoy standard and Latin tournaments of all ages and levels from 8.30 a.m. as part of the Trafo Cup. There are still plenty of tickets available for spectators on Sunday.
