Dear STSV family, dear friends of dance sport
After we thought we had overcome the worst at the end of last year, we were startled by new bad news at the end of February: war in Ukraine, war in Europe.
As a result, 19 Ukrainian male and female dancers have been accepted into the Ukrainian Dance Sport Community (UDSC), which was set up especially for this purpose, until their possible return. I would like to thank the respective member clubs who are actively taking care of the sporting needs of these young people.
As in all areas of sport, we have not been spared the loss of members as a result of the pandemic. As a result, as has been painfully noted time and again, we are lacking the relieving resources for voluntary work in clubs and in the federation. The social development additionally complicates the measures that are supposed to remedy this situation.
However, this did not stop our members from preparing and successfully holding a total of 13 events with numerous tournaments of different age categories and performance classes on 12 days this year with a lot of optimism. On behalf of the association and especially on behalf of the active couples, I would like to thank the responsible persons and their helpers for their commitment.
In addition, we have been able to successfully launch planned projects since our DM in May:
- The completion of the Tournament Director Training
The concretisation of a future DJ education - The association's well-done sponsorship dossier with promising contacts to media partners
- The offer for the training and further education of voluntary club officials
- The conceptual work for the promotion of young talent and cadre training
- The production of the live stream during the championships
The federation's involvement in the championships continues to be concretised and expanded. The media team has kept us up to date with impressive continuity. We have been able to hand over the search for sponsors to an agency on fair success-based terms.
In addition to the routine tasks, we will focus on the promotion of the youth and the squad in the coming year. We will also give our full attention to grassroots sport in cooperation with youth and sport offers and other organisations involved in grassroots sport.
Of course, we appreciate every helping hand and are also happy about a short-term assignment in one of our interesting projects.
The Geneva Dance Cup and the 10-Dance Championships on 10 December now brought the Swiss dance sport year to a close.
I wish you all a merry Christmas and peaceful holidays, confidence and good health for the New Year.
Walter Vogt, President STSV
