Swiss final place at the GOC in Stuttgart

Right at the start of the German Open Championships in Stuttgart, the standard pairing of Mirco Marotta/Anna Drukarova, newly competing for Switzerland, secured an excellent 4th place among 62 starters in the Seniors I competition - a brilliant result that makes you sit up and take notice. Who is this couple that is still unknown here?

From 2019 to 2021, Marotta/Drukarova competed with a Lithuanian licence and finished 10th twice at the Senior World Championships in 2020 and 2021. Since this year, they have been competing for STSV and have redeemed their licence with TSCZ. Anna is married to a Swiss, Mirco has a dance school in Italy. Training takes place alternately in Hausen am Albis and in Italy. By the way, they will present themselves for the first time at a competition in Switzerland next Saturday at the SM Standard in Kirchberg.

Davide Corrodi/Maja Kucharczyk showed their best side in the two Grandslam tournaments of the Adults. "We are very satisfied with these results," Davide Corrodi said. In Latin, the 47th place among 175 couples, in Standard even the 39th place among 158 couples. Vova Kasilov/Yulia Dreier came 65th in this world-class field. The Latin couples Flavio Lodigiani/Patrizia Patt from Lucerne (Seniors II) and Frank and Wibke Sudholt from DUZ (Seniors III) also reached the WDSF semi-finals.

The GOC had to be cancelled in the last two years due to the pandemic. At the reprise, the GOC fields were still very impressive, but due to the absence of the Russian dance couples, the junior categories in particular were weaker. In addition, it was noticeable that the delegation from China was also manageable this time. Nevertheless, the Stuttgart tournament remained a centre of attraction for numerous Swiss couples.
