On Saturday, 27. January 2024, the second edition of the Swiss Dance Award once again promises a dance spectacle in a class of its own - with at least three innovations. Olympic "Breaking" will be integrated into the Pair Award, Nadja "Nadeschkin" Sieger will be the new juror, and 100 children will be able to compete in the
"Swiss Dance Award Kids Day".
Since its premiere, the Swiss Dance Award has immediately become the gala evening of Swiss dance sport and the Swiss dance sport family. With 1800 spectators, the AXA Arene in Winterthur was sold out at the end of January 2023 and emotions ran high. Now the organisers are waiting in the wings with even more spectacle.
Swiss Dance Award 2024 - Dance fireworks return
This time, there will be new thrilling duels in eight dance sport disciplines. At the Pair Award, the discipline Breaking will appear for the first time, the dance newcomer of the 2024 Summer Olympics. In Paris, the Breakers will perform as solo dancers, in Winterthur they will team up and form two pairs. The best STSV standard and Latin dance couples as well as the rock'n'rollers will be fully challenged when they vie for the favour of the hall audience.
The Swiss Dance Award 2024 also brings Switzerland's best dance groups to the Arena. In the Group Award, tap dance, jazz dance, hip-hop and, for the first time, the Rock'n'Roll Ladies Formations will present energetic choreographies.
New energy will also be felt off the dance floor. The expert jury will be filled with a bang - Nadja Sieger, better known as the witty cabaret artist Nadeschkin, will judge the top dance performances alongside dance experts Nicole Burns-Hansen and Fabio Quattrocchi. With humorous and pointed comments, the jury will give the dancers a run for their money - even though ultimately only the audience has the say on who should reach the final and win the two awards.
Swiss Dance Award Kids Day for 100 children
The Swiss Dance Award now opens its doors on Saturday morning for dance-loving children. The Kids Day will take place on the same day from 9 am to 1 pm. 100 children between the ages of 10 and 15 will get to know and try out five different dance styles - tap dance, rock'n'roll, hip-hop/breaking and jazz dance. The offer is free of charge. The children are guided by professional instructors and all will be given a hot lunch and a surprise gift. Registrations are possible after the autumn holidays via the Swiss Dance Award website.
