In front of more than 1000 frenetic tifosi, the Italians relegated the Lithuanian title holders Sodeika/Zukauskaite to the place of honour by a hair's breadth thanks to their attacking dance style. Bronze went to the Germans Faisal/Faisil.
In the field of 59 couples, both Swiss couples advanced to the second round. Davide Corrodi/Maja Kucharczyk just missed out on the Top25 by 4 marks and finished in 30th place. The national champions Yulia Dreier/Vova Kasilov qualified via ReDance and finished the WC tournament in 35th place. Both couples complained of health problems, which sapped their energy.
On Friday, Corrodi/Kucharczyk also attracted attention with their first WDSF podium finish. One week before the ten-dance championships, they placed second at this WDSF Open behind the Japanese pair Onishi/Onishi.
