Davide Corrodi/Maja Kucharczyk from the Tanzsportclub Zug shone at the World Ten Dance Championships in Bratislava, Slovakia, reaching the semi-finals. With their 12th place among 33 dance couples, they once again gave an impressive testimony that they are continuing their way to the top of the world dance sport. It is the best Swiss result at a ten-dance World Championships since 1996, when Oliver and Sandie Baumann even reached the final.
The progress of Corrody/Kucharczyk, visible in the world ranking of the World Dance Sport Federation WDSF and now also at this World Ten Dance Championships, is the deserved reward of their consistent training and numerous training camps and tournament starts abroad. People know Corrodi/Kucharczyk. The talented young Swiss have become a competitive dance couple that catches the eye of the judges.

In 2019, the Zug couple was still ranked 22nd at the same World Championships, last year they were ranked 19th - and now this big leap forward. "In the semi-final, they were even undervalued from my point of view," said Reini Egli, who watched the World Championships as a photographer for 10 hours on the dance floor. For him, who has been following the international dance scene for many years, the Swiss couple would have definitely belonged in ranks 8-10. He was particularly impressed by the technique, dynamics and mature presence of his compatriots. "In Latin, they stood out with new choreographies that were even worthy of the final," said Egli, who noticed that the semi-finalists tended to have a greater affinity for Standard.
Corrodi/Kucharczyk easily jumped the starting hurdle in Bratislava with 108 out of 120 crosses and used the second round, where they had a little more space and benefited from the quality of the opposing pairs, to put in a top performance, which should take them into the semi-finals. The semi-final in purple, the second round in poison-green dresses - also in terms of outfit, the eye of the observer could not get past the Swiss. It will be interesting to see how far the steady upward trend of Corrodi/Kucharczyk, who have been dancing together since July 2017, will go.
