President Walter Vogt welcomed the representatives of the Swiss dance clubs to the Ordinary Delegates Assembly 2023 in Olten and provided a comprehensive snapshot of the Swiss Dance Sport Federation STSV.
In an informal atmosphere, he first reviewed the development of the association. After the pandemic, the number of licences is slightly on the rise again, but unfortunately this trend has not yet been reversed among the passive members. In the previous year, the Executive Committee was more involved in the organisation of three Swiss championships in Baden, Kirchberg and Geneva and, together with the organisers, draws a very positive conclusion. The mediateam is now in a position, both in terms of personnel and material, to offer good live streaming, which increases the visibility of dance sport. The annual accounts 2022, which had closed with a budgeted loss, were accepted by the delegates. The STSV board was unanimously discharged for the work done and applauded.
In 2023, the development of the Youth+Sport offers as well as the opening up to mass sport and other stakeholders in the Swiss dance scene should bring an expanded basis in the medium and long term. Thanks to a framework concept based on the Swiss Olympic FTEM model, it should be possible to manage the development of dance from the grassroots to competitive sport and the permeability between these areas more consciously.
The perception and accentuation of the sport of dance is to be further promoted. With two media partners and a significantly improved presence on social media, the STSV wants to provide incentives for potential association sponsors.
The entire Executive Board stood for another term of office and was confirmed. President Walter Vogt continues to count on Brigitte Stäldi (sports organisation), Oliver Baumann (competitive sports), Gunar Haas (continuing education), Martin Zinser (communication). Nadja Wullschleger will be in charge of the new department of popular sports.
The STSV board, which now consists of six members, hopes that more people can be found for club and association tasks so that the potential of Swiss dance sport can develop at an appropriate pace. The current staffing level is not sufficient to realise all the good ideas within a reasonable period of time.
